Defense struck hard
The Fifth Column has passed an interesting week in the Powerleague in which they saw their first loss of the season and progress in the cup.

The loss came in the game last week when The Heartbreakers were played away. The loss did not came because the home team was especially better but by a foul assault of their midfielder Gert Bjork. The player made The Fifth Column´s captain and star player Willy Borowski´s knee collapse in the 6th minute of the game and somehow referee Hartman showed only yellow instead of a clear red. In the end The Heartbreakers won 1-0

"Without Willy we lost a lot of power and the one who can make the difference in moments it matters most. We now had to replace him with the young and unexperienced Keith Baron. We unfortunatly could not find the inspiration to make it more of a battle after this horrible incident. The game ended up to be a different ballgame althogether. A game we could not win."

In the next game The Fifth Column luckily enough was not in need of their captain as progress to the next round of the cup was nearly settled in the first game against Jose already. In a team filled with youngsters for experience purposes, kudos went to especially only-18 year old midfielder Fifa Volpie who found the net already for the third time in his just-started career compiling of only 8 games.

This week saw an important game against KT1 City; thankfully whilst the encounters against this opponent proved tough in earlier occassions the team won 4-0 pleasing the all-smiles crowd. Midfielder San Mao Cheng was on a roll with two assists and a goal which saw him elected for the X11-team of the week for the third time this season. But the there was more bad news. Johann Seeger, the second key defender, was lost to injury. This time it only took 2 minutes of play. Many comments already had been made of the state of the pitch in Hell´s Kitchen as of late and the defender strained his ankle in a 20cm deep hole.

"This is bad news. Really bad news. Our defense is the heart of our team. Now we see our two best defenders out for quite the while with a very important next cup encounter on the throttle against a rather strong Norwich City FC. We hope for a larger cup adventure this season, for development purposes especially, and now have to do without two of our strongest players. We will still try to win, but is gonna be a lot harder. Also we have a very important league game against Fabril Deportivo which we can not afford to lose so you can see how these injuries, in the same part of the team none the less, is very upsetting."

It is only two days for the encounter against Norwich City FC and all available tickets are sold. It should be a good game.
