Domenico sits down with Robert Egert |
Interview with Domenico Salinos
KSI star striker Domenico Salinos was generous enough to sit down for a 10-minute interview with Robert Egert of The Totti News.
"Domenico, thanks for taking this time to speak with us at the Totti News."
- No problem, Mr. Egert, I've always been fond of the FC Totti United Ronaldo organization and have enjoyed many of the pieces written by the Totti news staff. It's an exciting team to follow for sure, even though they're great rivals of us at KSI!
"Domenico, KSI are already set for relegation and a Division 6 comeback, what are your thoughts on that?"
- It's disappointing for sure, but we realized that that was going to happen fairly early this season. The Division 5 we've ended up in is just incredibly tough, perhaps one of the toughest in all of D5. Our goal was of course to avoid relegation, but a comeback in D6 might be beneficial for us.
"You were one of the most exciting young talents in Division 6 last season, being the top scorer in your Division 6 with 13 goals. So far this season, you haven't scored a single league goal - what happened?"
- Last season was amazing for me, I played the best football of my career so far that year. I don't think I've performed poorly this season, but it's frustrating not to have been on the league score sheet thus far. Scoring goals is my job, after all. At least I've scored two cup goals.
However, as I said, this Division 5 is incredibly tough, and we haven't been strong enough to conquer it. We've under performed in some games, but overall we just haven't been ready for a strong D5 division like this.
I am confident that I have the potential to perform in the D5 and higher in the future, but we need to get stronger as a team, and I need to develop as well. I think we can do that in Division 6.
"Also, you've gained more attention this season. You have been more man-marked this season than ever before."
- That's also true. Some games I haven't been able to move an inch without having somebody on my back. In D6 nobody knew of me, and I had a lot of more space to operate on. That's what happens after having a season like I had last year - there's a lot more pressure on me as a goalscorer and also I'll be marked more closely. It's something I'll need to learn how to live with.
"Domenico, thank you so much for your time and best of luck in Division 6 next season. I think you have great potential to be the top scorer again!"
- Thanks! Honestly, I don't really care about my personal success, as long as the club is successful. I wouldn't mind scoring a lot of goals next season, but as long as we win and are able to return to D5, I'd be happy to see my fellow strikers Steffen Hangaard and Douglas Kipling being joint topscorers!
