Thanington Harriers
Division 5:12, League Of Champs
Manager: Hammerfisted
Last minute madness at Strangers Lane
Last week's prediction of drama on the last day of the season turned out to be true, as Thanington Harriers secured 3 points and survival within the season's dying seconds.

Their opponents, Dexters Midnight, went into the game two points ahead with a far superior goal difference so nothing less than a win would do for Harriers.

The visitors had the ball in the net first off through Leif Åkerlund but he was judged offside and the goal was disallowed. Then on the hour mark Bernado Di Venanzio also had a goal chalked off for an apparent foul on the build up.

The breakthrough came in the 92nd minute when Nick Rush latched onto a through ball from Matthias Bull and rounded the keeper to score and send the home crowd into raptures.

"It's amazing to have survived in division 3 once again." Hammerfisted told the gathered press. "Winning division 4 last season to gain promotion was special but each tier in this league gets harder and harder. We want to mix it with the big boys so if we want to do that we have to compete. I think we've shown at times this season that we can."

Planning for next season is already underway but the manager remained tight lipped as to what those plans might be.
