Dixon proves his worth again
Oldie Jez Dixon set the home fans in raptures this afternoon as his 92nd minute long range lob defeated Walton Abdon and Riverland F.A. In a match which Dulwich spent the majority behind, the fans would have settled for the point after Jasper Strachan's header equalised for the Red Hawks in the 75th minute.

The game was typically cliche a game of two halves. Riverland, also pushing for promotion, had the better of the chances, the better of possession and deservedly had the lead at half time. Dulwich couldn't get out of their own half and playmaker Roy McNiven wasn't given any time on the ball. Fortunately a shrewd substitution brought on Carolina Buruchaga after the hour mark who went on to assist Jez for that 92nd minute winning goal with a beautiful cross field pass.

"We did need that I think. I'm not sure we deserved the win but I'll take it. All the other teams have had a bit of an advantage in the league playing a managerless Connection FC, building up their goal difference and ensuring 6 points. Yes, we did beat them at the start of the season but their manager put up a fight against us. We hope we get the same opportunity as everyone else come the end of the season, but knowing our luck a new excellent manager will jump in and spoil our party.

"Until then though we still have to do what we can in all our more competitive games. We got the rub of the green today and that keeps us in that top spot, and surprisingly still with the best goal difference too. No game in this division is easy, as long as there is a manager present, so our next 3 games will be very difficult and we will need to be at our best to ensure we maintain our position and hopes of a title or promotion push.

"Jez [Dixon] has been an amazing player at this club. I thought this might be his last season with us, but he's dedicated to play until at least next season too. He works hard in training and that shows on the pitch, today more than ever. Come the end of the season, that lob could prove the difference in this difficult league."
