Knights of Cydonia FC
Division 5:20, Ultimate League

Say it loud, they're brutes and proud
Knights of Cydonia FC took on the legendary Amsterdam Brutez for the first time since Season 37. We struggled a bit against them the last time we played, barely winning the first game and drawing the second game. We fell behind to Lancelot Barley but Celso Mota and Timothy Wagner (remember him?) scored twice to turn it around. Wagner scored both goals in the return leg while the Brutez scored through Lee Caples and Louis Flynn.

But at that point the Brutez were down in the doldrums and known by an entirely different name, F.C. Pau. Since then the club was nearly on the chopping block until a manager we previously faced in charge of Shark Utd, Hertz_van_Rental, came in and saved them, rebuilding the club from a team of deadwood players into a team that rivals those of Snirp and the legendary Leftblank. In fact, that team did even better than those in that the team went from nowhere to one that finally made it to the Ultimate League top flight for the first time under the management of Drac_blad, a team that was up there for three UL seasons. It appears however that Knights have caught them right at the end of their competitive lifespan.

Before this game, a firesale that saw Taylor Weatherstone, Dario Targino and Jack Garrett all leave meant that a weakened Brutez side lined up for the game against Knights. The team lineups for the game were therefore as follows:

Knights of Cydonia FC
1 GK Ivan Drãgãnescu

2 RB Gicu Elen
4 CB Adri Pauwe
3 CB Matts Lagergren
22 LB Daniel Urs

19 DM Barry Gifford
8 DM Bert Sallqvist

7 RM Roberto Mora
10 AM Severino Motta
11 LM Silvio Sbaccanti

21 CF Dani Massa

Bench:
13 GK Erik Giddins
5 DF Ibrahim Young
6 MF Valentin Bagritsky
9 FW Campbell McGillivray
Amsterdam Brutez
1 GK Murlio Esteves

33 RB Nikolas Callenmark
4 CB Martin Farrelly
3 CB Göte Ejemyr
14 LB Bert Harryson

15 DM Pierre Jardier
8 DM Henning Bøge

9 RM Russell Bevers
10 AM Peter Carnesten
99 LM Geraldo Irazusta

11 CF Andy Wilson

Bench:
5 FW Liam Boork

It was a dominant win for Knights as goals from Dani Massa and Bert Sallqvist resulted in a 2-0. However, Dani Massa then picked up a serious injury that rules him out of the Rockerbocker game.

And that is a serious issue. The two league games we've played so far have clearly been against teams that in all likelihood are going to get relegated this season. So we really haven't been tested much. Rockerbocker on the flip side are the strongest team we will have to play against this season and the first serious test for us and we will have to do it without Massa. In all honestly, this means we are extremely likely to lose to Rockerbocker now and that will seriously hamper our own promotion challenge. If Swann and Helmet are genuine promotion contenders it could put us far behind them in the standings at the early stage.

Our general record against Rockerbocker is pretty terrible anyway, so even with a full strength team there was no likelihood we would be able to beat them anyway. Our only wins against them came when they had started a rebuild and we had a team in its final season of competitivness, they still have a strength advantage over us and are incredibly unpredictable so it doesn't seem likely we're going to get much...
