Knights of Cydonia FC
Division 5:20, Ultimate League

Handicapped
Knights of Cydonia FC go into the new season with a heavy handicap. Our return to the Ultimate League top flight will have to be done without one of the players who has technically already made his top flight debut. Talented 18 bar defender Gicu Elen's injury against Mudchute turned out be serious and he will miss the game against AC Assassins to start the season with. He is also a serious doubt for the game against CL Istanbul 05.

So we go into the new season on the back foot in a division where there are no easy games. We made it back but we don't want our stay to be just a single season, we want to stay up for at least a season. Challenging for the title might be beyond us however considering the sheer strength of Istanbul and Angry Birds. Funny, we made a better team than last time around and its still lagging behind the strongest teams overall.

Our Ultimate League top flight debut was against Lusitanian Warriors back in Season 43 and finished in a 1-1 draw.

Curiously our free kick taker back then was also injured for the game though that was in an XCL match. The draw doesn't bode particularly well, though maybe the new team will have a different fate. The friendly results against Real Peeps and Ciricarii however suggest Elen is a huge miss for us and we really need him to be playing.

Former champions AC Assasins are our first opponents. They won't be easy, but on the flip side at least they no longer have Crooked in charge so upsides I guess.

Squad is unchanged from last season, all our money has basically gone into form training, the same strategy as the last two seasons basically except we haven't bought anyone. Will our lack of depth come back to bite us? One thing's for sure, Ibrahim Young has got a huge task ahead of him for a 20 year old playing in the Ultimate League top flight!
